Mike Austin

Do you speak in yards or meters?stevepratt a écrit:
Yes remember I said I hit a 3 wood 300 and driver around 340 with a smooth swing
(300y = 274 m)
(and US$ or € ?)
Re: Mike Austin
Yes, the compound pivot after a waggle and forward press ensures the club goes back smoothly. This is a low maintenance swing.
And I am talking about yards for now. Meters soon as I continue to refine my technique closer to Mike Austin's!

I will post an HD normal speed swing soon! Those others are shot at 210 frames per second and are good for analysis!

Re: Mike Austin
Why not to start your swing with a little more opened left foot, so you don't have to move it to the target during the transition.
Very nice timing of shoulders and hips motion. Great swing !

Re: Mike Austin

Re: Mike Austin
No I do not advocate moving one's foot in the middle of the backswing. Yes it would be logical to start with my foot more open. I am not even aware that I do it! It is just one of those little idiosyncracies that we all have!
It in no way affects my hitting, and it does prove that I have arrived completely on a right foot balance at that moment.
It is almost like I am stepping into a pitch like a baseball player - like a miniature Happy Gilmore move!

Re: Mike Austin
This is certainly true. I was hitting a 56 degree sand wedge 100 yards there. The Mike Austin technique is very very accurate on part shots and finesse shots. I can hit the 56 up to 130 yards fairly easily - and on target - but can also hit a 9 iron exactly 130 yards with a half swing. A round of golf is not a long drive contest and we must cruise around the course using the simplest shot for the situation. We must control spin and trajectory, and the lie isn't always flat or perfect.
I believe this is the important step towards winning and placing often - Alvaro Quiroz comes to mind, and Bubba Watson, and Hank Kuehne too.

Re: Mike Austin
Hi Steve,
Just for my information...
Do you have any qualifications in teaching golf sanctionned by PGA of America?
Have you ever play in a long drive contest ran by LDA other than locals? And what was your results?
There so many Jack Hamm in this world that claims many things they have never accomplished...
Don't take it personal.

Re: Mike Austin
hi there!
Let me say I don't blame you at all for being skeptical. The answers are: No, but thinking about it and No, but thinking about it. I am certified by Mike Austin's teaching association. I would learn nothing getting a PGA certification.
But then again I am not claiming to hit as far as LDA finalists. When I pop one I'll go around 340-360 with a 46" driver. When I don't get it all, I'll go 320.
What I CLAIM to be is a good coach, especially of the Mike Austin technique - and additionally I can demonstrate it well and use it to score well too. What claim have I made that you have a problem with? That I can hit a 3 wood 300 yards? Watching my video, does that seem farfetched to you?
And Jack Hamm is in the Guinness Book for a couple of records - that's real. By observation, he is a superb athlete who can swing a golf club very fast. But yes, I would like to see his competition record too - he does make a lot of claims that are sketchy.

Didn't want to be harsh!!! So take it easy...
Just wanted to get more informations on someone that post impressive length...
By the way, Jack Hamm is full of $hit... Anyone can be in the Guiness Book... He claims 6 world LD titles without competing in any event... How can you trust that???
Anyway... That is not the point... Have fun in this forum...
Re: Mike Austin
hey LD,
No I know you weren't being harsh, and yes we are just having fun in here. A little skepticism is healthy!
Yes I heard Jack Hamm's 6 world titles claim, and I would like to hear when those were. I used Google search to find out and there is no information.
LD did you really hit 403 meters? I would love to see a video of you swinging!
Cheers!

That last post I Should Have Stated know you are not Being harsh . It lost something in the translation.
I Wonder What Mike Austin's average driving distance would if ET Be Played On The PGA Tour now.
Everyone hit long and straight today!
